Drew E. Smith Announces Reelection Campaign for Prosecuting Attorney

Drew E. Smith, the current Prosecuting Attorney for the 16th Judicial District of Arkansas, is proud to announce his campaign for reelection. Drawing on a proven record of leadership, innovation, and commitment to justice, Smith seeks to continue serving the communities of the 16th Judicial District with transparency and dedication.

Smith’s first four years in office have been marked by a commitment to modernizing the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. He has spearheaded technology upgrades, advancing the office's learning curve and streamlining operations for greater efficiency. These improvements have enhanced productivity and ensured that the office remains responsive to the evolving needs of the judicial system.

As the primary director of all victim assistance for the 16th Judicial District, Smith has prioritized the needs and rights of crime victims throughout his tenure. By ensuring support and resources through these programs, he has worked tirelessly to provide meaningful assistance to those affected by crime. Smith emphasized that “we are committed to engaging with these victims and seeking their input. These are not merely cases for us; they represent real individuals, families, and situations that demand justice. While national media often portrays prosecutors’ offices that appear indifferent to victims, their families, or any concerns beyond conviction rates, our office maintains a proven track record of engaging with victims, providing timely updates, and ensuring their active participation in the judicial process.”

In addition to his prosecutorial duties, Smith also serves as the Director of the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force. Under his direction, the task force has achieved remarkable success in disrupting methamphetamine distribution across the district. By establishing strategic partnerships with local law enforcement and community organizations, the Drug Task Force has achieved substantial progress in mitigating the dissemination of hazardous drugs, including fentanyl, throughout the area, thereby enhancing the safety of all families within our communities. Smith emphasized that “most people have a friend, family member, or acquaintance who has had their life irreparably damaged by illegal narcotics. It is incumbent upon our society to utilize rehabilitation facilities, court-mandated drug treatment programs, and the Arkansas Department of Corrections to effectively combat this pressing issue.”
